Corning, the company that manufactures Gorilla Glass, announced the latest version of the glass coating and gadget protection, namely Gorilla Glass DX and DX+. The names Gorilla Glass DX and DX+ have actually been introduced before by Corning. However, these two glass coating models were previously only intended to protect the smartwatch body so that it is scratch resistant. This time, Corning announced that it specifically adopted the latest versions of Gorilla Glass DX and DX+ to protect the camera lens on smartphones. These two coating models are claimed to be able to provide reliable protection for the phone lens, without compromising the quality of the resulting image or video. "Since 2016, Gorilla Glass DX products have been used in more than 30 million wearables and are now being adopted in mobile camera lenses," Corning wrote on the company's official website. VP and General Manager of Corning Gorilla Glass, Jaymin Amin claims, this Gorilla Glass DX and DX+ composite is superior to the anti-reflective coating on conventional cameras. According to Amin, ordinary anti-reflective coating tends to scratch easily and is only able to capture 95 percent of light. This then negatively impacts the resulting image quality.

Meanwhile, Corning's Gorilla Glass DX and DX+ coating allows the phone's lens to capture 98 percent of light. By capturing 98 percent of the light for the camera lens, our glass composites increase the ability to protect the camera and help create high-quality images and videos," Amin said. Because the maximum amount of light captured, the phone lens will be able to produce high-quality images or videos. .

Corning confirmed that Samsung would be the first vendor to adopt Gorilla Glass DX in their smartphones. However, on its website, the company does not mention the name of which Samsung device model will carry the new camera lens protector. Samsung itself is scheduled to hold an event titled "Galaxy Unpacked" on August 11. The stage may be used to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, as compiled by KompasTekno from GizmoChina, Monday (26/7/2021). It is also possible that the two phones will adopt Gorilla Glass DX on their camera lenses. We'll just have to wait for the next one.
