Snapdragon 898 Chip Benchmark Score on Vivo Phones and Snapdragon 7c Gen-2 for Laptop

Snapdragon 888 is allegedly a candidate for a high-end System-on-Chip (SoC) successor to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888. Later, leaked Snapdragon 898 performance test results in the Geekbench benchmark application appeared and circulated on the internet. The screenshot of the benchmark test results shows that Snapdragon 898 is installed on a Vivo phone. The type is not clear, only the code "V2102A" is written for the smartphone in question. It is possible that this device is a prototype. The performance test results themselves look "disappointing" because they only scored a single-core score of 720 points and a multi-core score of 1,919 points. In comparison, most Snapdragon 888 phones have single-core scores of 900s points and multi-core 2900s points.

It is possible that the chip in the Vivo device is not the successor to the Snapdragon 888. Or, even if it is a successor, there is a chance that the leaked test results will not describe the actual performance in the future.

Moreover, Qualcomm's latest chips are usually always more powerful than previous products, such as the Snapdragon 888 which is claimed to be 25 percent faster than the Snapdragon 865. Based on rumors circulating in cyberspace, the Snapdragon 898 SoC itself is said to be equipped with an eight-core (octa) processor (CPU). core) which is divided into three clusters.

The first cluster contains one Cortex-X2 Super Core CPU with a speed of 3.09 GHz. The second cluster contains three Cortex-A710 CPU cores with a speed of 2.17 GHz, then the third cluster consists of four Cortex-A510 CPU cores with a speed of 1.79 GHz. With this CPU configuration, the performance of Snapdragon 898 is predicted to be 20 percent superior to Snapdragon 888, as summarized by KompasTekno from 91Mobiles.com, Wednesday (8/9/2021). Qualcomm usually introduces a new chip from the Snapdragon 800 family at the end of every year, before starting to appear in flagship devices released the following year. Therefore, the Snapdragon 898 is likely to be officially introduced in December 2021.

Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon 7c Gen-2 for Entry-level Laptops

Qualcomm has again introduced a new chip, this time in the form of a 2nd Generation Snapdragon 7c SoC aimed at entry-level laptops, both Windows-based and Chrome OS (Chromebook). The 2nd Generation Snapdragon 7c is arguably a faster version of the Snapdragon 7c which was first launched in 2019. For CPU, Snapdragon 7c Gen-2 still relies on two Kryo 468 Gold (Cortex-A76) cores. However, the speed has increased to 2.55 GHz, from 2.4 GHz on the Snapdragon 7c. Then there are 6 CPU cores Kryo 468 Silver (Cortex-A55).

The GPU used is Adreno 618. Snapdragon 7c Gen-2 also has DSP Hexagon 692, ISP Spectra 255, and a Snapdragon X15 modem that supports LTE cat.15/13 connections. This SoC also supports 4K 60 FPS (H.265) video recording features with HDR, one 32 MP camera or two 16 MP cameras, as well as Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 wireless connectivity. Snapdragon 7c Gen-2 is designed for laptop devices that are always on the go. connected to the internet (Always On, Always Connected) like a smartphone. One aspect that this chip excels at is its power efficiency.

Qualcomm claims that Snapdragon 7c Gen-2 is up to 60 percent more efficient than competing products such as MediaTek MT8183 and Intel Celeron N4020 and N5030. Devices powered by Snapdragon 7c Gen-2 are also said to have battery life up to two times higher than competing platforms, reaching a range of 19 hours.
