Apple Rewind, Restore MagSafe and Remove Touch Bar on MacBook Pro 2021

Apple officially introduced its newest MacBook Pro in an event titled Unleashed which was held on Monday (10/18/2021) night WIB. The 2021 MacBook Pro was introduced in two screen size models, namely 14.2 inches and 16.2 inches. The design of the 2021 MacBook Pro line also steals the attention. Because, for the first time Apple put bangs or notch on the top of the MacBook screen. The bangs are similar to those of the iPhone. The bangs contain a FaceTime camera which is now 1080p resolution with a larger image sensor, and an image processing chip (ISP) to process photos or videos. Apart from the bangs, Apple seems to have chosen to "turn back" by bringing back features that were missing in previous versions of the MacBook Pro, such as the MagSafe charging connector and the SDXC card reader module. In addition, Apple has also now chosen to eliminate features that have been around for 5 years

Return of MagSafe and Card Reader

For the past six years, Apple is said to have prioritized the design aspect with a smooth and thin body on its MacBook Pro line.

That's why, when Apple launched the 2016 MacBook Pro, Apple chose to trim most of the connector holes that were previously on the laptop body. For example, replacing the MagSafe charger connector with USB Type-C. Then, Apple also removed the SD card reader. At that time, the loss of this slot was widely criticized because it was actually still needed by photographers for data transfer. But, in 2021, Apple is "turning back" and bringing back features that were previously missing, namely the MagSafe port and SD card reader on the 2021 MacBook Pro. With the return of the MagSafe port to the MacBook Pro line, users must charge it with a MagSafe adapter cable, no longer using a USB Type-C cable.

The return of MagSafe to the MacBook Pro line has actually been detected since the beginning of 2021. Well-known analyst, Ming Chi-kuo at that time predicted that Apple would return the port to the MacBook Pro. That prediction proved to be true. In addition, Apple is also seen equipping the 2021 MacBook Pro with a series of other connectors that are more complete than previous generation laptops. For example, on the right side of the laptop body, there is now 1x HDMI port, 1x Thunderbolt 4 port, and 1x SDXC card reader module. Meanwhile, on the left side there is 1x MagSafe 3 port, 2x Thunderbolt 4 port, and 1x 3.5mm audio jack.

Missing Touch Bar

This Touch Bar panel was first present on the 2016 generation MacBook Pro. The panel located above the keyboard was originally supposed to replace the physical Functions (F) key that usually accompanies the keyboard. The Touch Bar itself is a touch button that is equipped with various functions, such as quick access to Siri, bookmarks in the browser, showing a list of emojis, navigation, to editing photos. The buttons on the Touch Bar itself can be arranged according to the user's wishes.

However, after 5 years on the MacBook Pro line, Apple chose to remove this Touch Bar panel from the 2021 MacBook Pro and return the physical Functions buttons.

This is done by Apple to bring back the sensation of the touch of a mechanical button on the row of Functions buttons on the latest generation of MacBook Pro,

At an online introduction to the 2021 MacBook Pro, Apple said users appreciated the full-height range of Functions keys on the Magic Keyboard. And we've brought it to the MacBook Pro. So Apple chose to bring back the "familiar tactile feel of these mechanical buttons that MacBook Pro users love, as compiled from ScreenRant.
