Intel Alder Lake Processor Officially Launches, Promises Best Gaming Performance

Intel officially introduced the 12th generation Core processors named "Alder Lake". The launch of the Intel Alder Lake processor was carried out at the Intel Innovation event on Wednesday (27/10/2021) night. The complete Intel Alder Lake family line includes 60 processors designed to support more than 500 desktop computer models from various vendors. However, during the initial introduction, Intel had just launched six desktop processors that were included in the Alder Lake family.

In an official statement received by Techvibe, Thursday (28/10/2021), the six variants of the unlocked Intel Alder Lake processor are as follows:

-Intel Core i9-12900K

-Intel Core i9-12900KF

-Intel Core i7-12700K

-Intel Core i5-12600K

-Intel Core i7-12700KF

-Intel Core i5-12600KF

Intel Executive Vice President and General Manager of Client Computing Group, Gregory Bryant said, "This 12th generation Intel Core processor is based on Intel's latest hybrid performance architecture. These Alder Lake processors feature a combination of Performance-cores (P-cores), the most high-performance CPU cores Intel has ever designed, and Efficient-cores (E-cores) designed for scalable, multi-threaded workload performance.

The performance hybrid architecture of the 12th Intel Core processors is an architectural leap that can be achieved thanks to the close co-engineering between software and hardware, resulting in far superior performance compared to previous generations," said Bryant. In addition, six Intel Alder processors The already launched Lake is the first processor built using Intel 7 process technology.

According to Intel Performance, the technology is capable of delivering scalable performance, from 9 to 125 watts, to support various PC segments from thin and light laptops, to the highest-performance desktop enthusiast types.

Promised to be the best gaming processor in the world

Of the six Alder Lake processors that have been unlocked, the Core i9-12900K variant is Intel's flagship processor which is promised to be the best gaming processor in the world.

The Core i9-12900K offers a total of 16 cores (8 P-cores and eight E-cores) and 24 threads and is capable of clock speeds of up to 5.2 GHz using Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0 technology. "High-frequency P-cores paired with E-cores are able to perform multiple tasks in parallel with an FPS increase of up to 84% when gaming, streaming, and recording simultaneously," Intel said. Overall, Intel promises the Core i9-12900K has a 19 percent performance increase thanks to the new P-core architecture, compared to Intel's 11th generation chips. The other five Alder Lake processors also offer different number of cores and threads, namely Core i9-12900KF (16 cores, 24 threads), Core i7-12700K/KF (12 cores, 20 threads), and Core i5-12600K/KF (10 cores, 16 threads).

Especially for the processor, namely Alder Lake with the "K" appendage in its name, it is equipped with an Intel UHD Graphiscs 770 integrated graphics processor. While the other three "KF" models do not appear to include this integrated graphics processor. In a written statement, Intel claims there are a number of important advancements that are presented in the complete lineup of the Intel Alder Lake family, namely:

-The industry's first processor to support DDR5 memory at speeds up to 4800MT/s.

-The industry's first processor to support PCIe 5.0 (up to 16 lanes), offering up to twice the I/O throughput of PCIe 4.0, with an additional up to four lanes thanks to PCIe 4.0 support.

-Intel Smart Cache (L3) up to 30MB and L2 cache up to 14MB for increased memory capacity and reduced latency.

-Wireless connectivity is integrated with Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E, which combines industry-leading Wi-Fi 6E connectivity with powerful gaming networking technology to minimize lag, latency, and packet loss.

The unlocked 12th generation Intel Core processors will be widely available worldwide on November 4, 2021. Intel says the six Alder Lake processors that have been launched are priced starting at US$ 264 (approximately Rp. 3.7 million) up to 589 US dollars (about Rp. 8.3 million). "For a broader segment such as desktop, mobile and commercial devices, it is expected to be available in early 2022," Intel said.
