Windows 11 Available Starting Today and Free, Here's How to Download it

A few months ago, Microsoft announced Windows 11 the latest operating system successor to Windows 10. The operating system became available today Tuesday (5/10/2021) and can be downloaded for free. "Today marks a milestone for Windows. On October 5 in every time zone around the world, Windows 11 becomes available via a free update on eligible Windows 10," wrote Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer, Windows + Devices. Panay also said Windows 11 can already be purchased for new PCs or computer devices. We are excited to launch Windows 11, the entire user experience brings you closer to what you are and inspires you to be creative," continued Panay. Previously, Microsoft itself had released a beta version for Windows 11 in early August. Microsoft announced that official Windows 10 users will get an upgrade to Windows 11 for free. Windows 11 will also be installed on devices sold with Windows 11 pre-loaded.

For Windows 10 users, a Windows 11 availability notification will appear in the Windows Update menu. If it is not yet available, it is possible that this update will be rolled out in stages. Here are the steps you need to take to download Windows 11 for free.

How to download Windows 11

-First, open the "Settings" menu on your computer (Desktop/Laptop PC).

-Then, select "Windows Update/Windows Update".

-Next, click "Check for Updates".

-If an update is available, you'll see a "Feature Update to Windows 11" option.

-After that, wait until the Windows 11 installation process is complete.

Previously, Microsoft announced, CPUs that support Windows 11 are Intel 8th generation or later. However, Microsoft recently said that there is a workaround that can be used to install Windows 11 for older devices.

PCs with old CPUs that don't pass the official update test can install Windows 11 manually via an ISO file. This method can be done as long as the PC has a 64-bit dual core CPU, a minimum speed of 1 GHz. The device should also have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space, as well as a TPM 1.2 chip.

However, if the device is old with the condition forcing an upgrade to Windows 11, the device does not get access to Windows updates or security patches. If the device is not fully compatible with Windows 11, Microsoft will still provide support for Windows 10 until October 14, 2025, as compiled by KompasTekno from The Verge, Tuesday (5/10/2021). A little about Windows 11, this latest operating system comes with a fresh and clean interface (UI) design. Features such as task window management, performance improvements, to Android application support are also presented in this latest Windows OS.

The most striking changes are seen in the interface, especially in the taskbar and Start menu. Different from the previous version, the two menus are now no longer on the left side, but shifted to the middle side like in the MacOS display.

some features Items such as clock, connection, or battery are still the same, which is on the right side of the taskbar. Meanwhile, the Start menu is now right in the middle. Regarding the theme, the UI of Windows 11 appears more transparent with the feel of an application that looks fresh. This is one of the other changes seen in Windows 11. Microsoft also announced several Android applications that will be available in the Windows Store, and can run on Windows 11 without the need for special modifications, such as social media applications and games.
