Samsung launches the Galaxy Tab A8 tablet, here are the specifications


Samsung announced its newest line of tablets for the middle class segment, namely the Galaxy Tab A8. This tablet is the successor of the Galaxy Tab A7 which was launched in 2020. As a successor, the Galaxy Tab A8 (2021) brings a number of improvements, for example from the aspect of the screen and the processor used. For screen specifications, the Galaxy Tab A8 is equipped with a 10.5-inch TFT LCD panel with a WUXGA resolution (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 16:10. The screen is slightly larger than the Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) which has a 10.4-inch screen with a 15:9 aspect ratio.

Another improvement is in the aspect of the processor. In a post on the official Samsung Newsroom page, the processor (CPU) and graphics processor (GPU) used in the Galaxy Tab A8 tablet is claimed to offer a performance increase of up to 10 percent compared to its predecessor. Unfortunately, Samsung itself did not reveal what chipset is used to master the latest tablet line. According to information circulating, the Galaxy Tab A8 is powered by the Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset with 12nm fabrication, as compiled from GSMArena.

For memory, the Galaxy Tab A8 comes with three choices of RAM and media storage configurations, namely 3/32 GB, 4/64 GB, and 4/128 GB. If it's not enough, there is a microSD slot up to 1 TB that users can use to expand storage space. In the photography sector, Samsung provides the Galaxy Tab A8 with two cameras, namely a 5 MP front camera and an 8 MP rear camera (with autofocus).

The Galaxy Tab A8 runs the Android 11 operating system and is coated with the One UI 3 interface. For battery specifications, this tablet is supported by a 7,040 mAh battery with 15 watt fast charging support.

Pricing and Availability

Galaxy Tab A8 is available in two versions, namely Wi-Fi only (Wi-Fi only) and WiFi+cellular (has a 4G LTE SIM card slot). Both supported Wi-Fi connectivity are Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) and Wi-Fi Direct.

Other features brought by this tablet include Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm audio jack, USB type C, and four (quad) speakers with Dolby Atmos technology. The successor tablet to the Galaxy Tab A7 is available in gray, silver, and pink gold color variants. Samsung itself has not revealed the price tag of the Galaxy Tab A8. However, according to a leaked price from the SamMobile site, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 will be the cheapest for 229 Euros (around Rp. 3.7 million) and the most expensive at 359 Euros (around Rp. 5.8 million). As for availability, Samsung says that the new Galaxy Tab A8 will go on sale for the European market in late December 2021.
